Size Acceptance Advocacy
As it stands right now, Michigan is the only state that
protects people of size from discrimination. San Francisco,
California, Santa Cruz, California and Washington, D. C. are
the only cities outside Michigan that prevents
discrimination of big and tall persons. We stand as a strong
advocate for the big and tall in the workplace, in
healthcare, in the legal system and in society in general.
No one should be discriminated against. That is our belief.
Tall people and fat people have a lot to contribute to
society, yet we are mocked and ridiculed. Some to the point
where they loathe themselves. Well, we believe that everyone
is valuable, no matter what their size. We want you to be
the best you that you can be. If you are happy with whom you
are, that is great. If there are changes you want to make,
that is fine too. But no one should have to suffer at the
hands of others for who they are or who they want to be.
As part of out advocacy for size acceptance, we invite you
to visit our blog,
Big and Tall
Shorts. Big
and Tall Shorts provides insightful commentary and a
plethora of resources for all persons of size.
Some of the listings below have to do with weight loss
surgery, and some advocacy groups are opposed to any type of
surgery for weight loss. At Huge Comfort we believe that
this is an individual choice and that in seeking any type of
surgery of this kind a number of factors play a role.
Therefore, we take no stance, be it pro or con as to the
benefits or detriments of such surgeries, nor to do we
advocate a stance where weight loss surgery right for
anyone. We simply want to show all sides of the issue so
that you can be better informed.
Below is a list of advocacy sites for big and tall alike. We
are always looking to add to the list, so if you find that
you would like to submit a site, or if you find that a link
is broken or not as described, please drop us a line at
